Our History

University of West Georgia CCF began in 1992 with 6 students meeting in a small rental house on Lovvorn Road near the campus. Tony Crumbley set the vision for the beginning of the ministry and with support from Bethany Christian Church, of Carrollton, became the Campus Minister. Under Tony’s guidance, the ministry grew to the point that it had to be moved. In 1995, CCF was then moved to its current site on 5 acres on Tyus Carrollton Rd. CCF kept growing and in the late nineties constructed a worship/activity building and began an internship program.

In 2002, Tony felt God’s calling to foreign missions and the Board of Directors hired Jay Akin as the Campus Minister at CCF. Under Jay’s leadership and God’s guidance, CCF continued to grow. During Jay’s ministry at CCF, Bible Study was moved to Thursday nights and emphasis was placed in more outreach to the campus and more focus on bringing in new donors. The ministry began to flourish with Thursday night attendance reaching 50 and more sponsors being added by the month.

In 2005, Jason Walton was hired by the Board of Directors to continue the oversight and growth of the ministry. In 2009, Whit Maxey, Ronda Ivey and Adam Welsh were hired to work as associate campus ministers to serve the growing number of students in the ministry. In 2010, CCF began a satellite ministry at the Newnan Campus of the University. CCF now ministers to nearly 170 students on a weekly basis and has nearly 20 supporting churches and several more individual donors or group donors and is looking forward to what God has planned ahead.
